Scientific activity in the department is carried out by a veteran of the Russian Geological Service, a petroleum geologist, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Geologist of Russia

Activities

• Information and analytical support of the state geological study of subsoil on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation in terms of the reproduction of the mineral resource base for hydrocarbon raw materials;
• Information and analytical support of the state system of licensing the use of subsurface resources for hydrocarbons on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation;
• Study of natural gas hydrates as a potential source of hydrocarbon raw materials and a component of the geological environment, complicating economic activities in the development of natural resources.

Key objectives

• Management of information-analytical system "Oil and gas shelf of Russia";

• Monitoring of changes in the unloading (licensing) regulations on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation in terms of geological exploration for prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbons;

• Monitoring of the implementation of license agreements by subsoil users on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation in terms of exploration work on prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbons;

• Creation and maintenance of a database and analysis of the state of geological resources of gas hydrates in the seas of the Russian Federation;

• Quantification of the resources of unconventional hydrocarbon sources (natural gas hydrates, water-dissolved, sorbed and shale gases) based on the study of their distribution, formation, and conditions of occurrence.
